Illinois Art League 2021Membership Show
We are pleased to announce that plans are well underway for the 2021 Membership Show. Included with this mailing, you will find (1) the official Announcement; (2) the Registration Form; (3) the Prospectus; and (4) the Award Schedule. PLEASE read all of this information carefully as it contains all the detail you will need to successfully complete your entries and to make the show run smoothly.
Changes in Show Format
This year the show will be following a modified format from that of previous years. Most notably, there will no longer be a distinction between under glass (UG) and not under glass (NUG). The Categories will now consist of 2-D , 3-D, and Photography. Divisions of Amateur, Semi-Pro and Professional will now apply only to 2-D art. The change in categories was implemented to eliminate what the Committee and the Board felt was an arbitrary distinction. The elimination of divisions in 3-D art and Photography was deemed to address the situation of often not having enough entries within the divisions of these categories to meet the minimum threshold for issuing awards without first combining the divisions at the time of show opening.
Entry Forms, Fees and Awards
Last year most entrants chose to register and pay online through the IAL website and this worked really well. The website is being tweaked to make it a bit easier to navigate though the payment process. The entry fees are the same as last year, but the amounts of the awards are being increased.
The Reception(s)
The virtual reception last year necessitated by the pandemic received very favorable comments. For that reason it was decided to once again hold a virtual reception in 2021 and then have an informal get together on the day of pick-up, health considerations permitting.
Photos of Artwork
Photos should be submitted in either JPEG or PNG format.
File size of photographs of art should be no larger than 4 MB each.
Ideal resolution should be a minimum of 1200 pixels for the longest side, (i.e. 16x20 - 20” side is longest side); smaller is acceptable but images may be unclear.
Please consider taking a photo before putting a work under glass to reduce chance of glare.
